EA screwed over Europe hard. Rock Band will have two products available at launch. The game by itself is 50 pounds, or 70 Euros. Instrument Edition is 130 pounds or 170 Euros. Instrument edition comes with guitar, drums, mic, and a lack of actual game. So it'll cost Europeans the equivalent of $378.
Like any other good plan, this involves buying stuff in the US:
1. Amazon is selling drums for $54 right now. I'll have my parents order it for me. 2. Although I already have two Les Pauls, I. Want. A. Strat. The LP is awesome once you get used to it, and even though I was worried about breaking LilBro's strum bar when I was using it, I fell in love with it pretty quickly. I can pick that up in the States, too, or I could just fork over the likely ~120 CHF it would cost to pick it up here. (ETA: Ooh, even better, if I pick it up individually, it'll be wireless!) 3. I can pick up the mike pretty much anywhere. 4. Pick up the game solus in France release weekend, which would be when I'm coming back from California anyway. 5. While I'm in the States, add $200 to my LIVE account, for the $100+ I've already got planned on purchased DLC.
The total should be, sans DLC:
Solus game = €70, Drums = $54, Guitar = $60, Mike (Logitech Vantage, non-RB branded) = $30.
$144 = CHF 145 €70 = CHF 110
= roughly CHF 255 for the game, which is about what I was expecting.
I'm a bit late with this reply, but re: your comment (http://spectralbovine.livejournal.com/122606.html?thread=5913326#t5913326) on spectralbovine's journal, I've made the entry public.

Or more than double what it costs in the US.

Which would make your journal very, very boring, but some things are even more important than entertaining us LJ voyeurs.
