There's a huge chunk of you out there whose LJs I read every day--but in a lot of cases, I don't know how old a lot of you are, or where you live, or basic, normal things.

This is the problem with LJ--we all think we are so close, and while we know about the day-to-day, there's still a lot we don't know about each other. So let's rectify it.

I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. I promise, I will not make fun of you, or reveal any secrets; I won't divulge any sensitive personal info publicly if I can't feel like I can't trust you.

You're a university student/graduate, right? If so, what is/was your major?

Last major was a B.S. in Computer Science, with an emphasis in Information Management. This means I didn't do any real programming, and in its stead learned about databases! (Databases not real.)

Hmm..I can't think of any good questions right now, so pick and choose from the following. Why'd you choose Geneva? How many languages do you know, and hmmmmm. What's your favorite time of the day? What do you like to read?

I didn't choose Geneva; my dad got a job in the Geneva area and I was still in high school at the time.

I am fluent in English, Franglish, Chinglish, and Spanglish. My Mandarin is sub-standard, and my French would be all right if I didn't mangle the accent so badly 60% of the time.

I love mid-afternoons to twilights for the sunshine, and late late nights for the partying.

I'm a big fan of fantastic work. Not as in "WOW! THIS IS FANTASTIC!" but more like somewhat larger-than-life. jrenken introduced me to the works of Matt Ruff, and for that I am forever in his debt. I'm a big fan of Dave Barry (I used to read his column when we got the International Herald Tribune), and his two novels (Big Trouble and Tricky Business) were great. Then I picked up Neil Gaiman's American Gods on my last trip to the States, and now I thirst for more of his work.

On the whole, I don't do a lot of novel reading, though. I tend to visit websites, and enjoy a lot of the reading there--my older brother introduced me to twoflower's work a long time back, and I've been hooked on his stuff since. You should try it.

While there are things I regret leaving behind in the States, overall I prefer my life here in Geneva. It's nice and relaxed and I don't have to worry about traffic problems and God knows what else. But I do plan on returning to the States. Maybe in about ten years. Geneva's mostly a transitory city until you near retirement, in which case you're there for life.

I was never good at taking care of fish. <_<

I managed to find and borrow copies of the scanlated Rurouni Kenshin manga early this year. Great work on that, by the way! And thanks for your efforts!

Aside from RK scanlations and Improfanfic, what online communities are/were you active in?

Actually, I never really was active in the RK scanning community--I was always more of a lone wolf. You'll know which ones are mine simply because my name is on the title page of any given chapter...

Other communities I've been active in include the late "TES: The Essential Site, formerly known as Andel Crodo's Daggerfall Fashion Gallery," whose community message board has been transported to The Imperial Library. I'm one of the seriously old-skool members, having been part of the site community since like 1996 and taking on a short stint as admin around 2000.

I used to be a frequenter of the DDR Freak forums, but not so much anymore. I do English translation work for the local DDR website, Dancing Gamers. It's a bit of a pain in the neck the way it's done (I don't have direct FTP access), but hell.

I also hang around the Anime on DVD chatroom, and have recently gotten back into checking out their forums.

I have no idea when I'm going back to the States. I try to make it back at least once a year, and maybe next time it'll be on my own dollar. If I do, you bet your ass I'll try to make it for a con. (Maybe not AB, though. <_< ACen's been top priority on my list of must-visit cons for several reasons. AB's up there, though.) It's all about that stupidly fine balance between having the time and having the money.
