MP3meage!

So [livejournal.com profile] mandoric decided to punt me a meme where I list five songs that are owning me right now. That, on top of the realization that I haven't had a decent MP3 post in a while, results in this!

(This will be one of the rare MP3 posts I'm making public. I just feel that some of this has to be shown to the world, I guess. :P

ETA: The window on this particular MP3 post has expired, and I've since taken down the MP3s listed in here. Such is why there are no hotlinks.)

Now, in no particular order:

Morcheeba - Coming Down Gently - The more I listen to it, the more Fragments of Freedom grows on me. This is one of the instrumentals off of the CD, and one that I can't help but start dancing to whenever it pops up. It's got a catchy, jazzy riffline that doesn't let itself out of my head easily.
Michael Bublé - Can't Buy Me Love - Astrid introduced me to this particular artist. He apparently features prominently on the Wedding Date soundtrack, and she picked up It's Time after watching it. Lots of choice tracks, but the one that sticks in my head is, for whatever reason, the Beatles cover. Hey, it works pretty well, so don't knock it. His vocals are smooth, and the orchestration is very swingy. While occasionally it's fun to play swing covers of rock songs for fun (cf Richard Cheese), this is a pretty good example of the tongue-decidedly-not-in-cheek side of these kinds of covers.
Dandy Warhols - We Used to Be Friends - So I've spent the past two or three weeks watching Season One of Veronica Mars. The show has good taste in music--the thirty-second edit (or however long it is) describes the show and sets the mood quite nicely, and the background music always seems appropriate and unforced. (Not only did it get me re-introduced to this song, but also to Ivy's Edge of the Ocean--that link should take you to Amazon's free MP3 of it). Not to mention, it's one of the more brilliant shows I've seen in a long while...but enough VM praise. The "ah, ah-ah-ah-ah" of the bridge and the chorus are guaranteed to get stuck in your head. As is that one synth line that goes through the song.
m-flo - Flo Jack - Japanese garage R&B. Gabriel and I heard this playing at the America pool parlor one day and asked the tender if he could tell us what CD it was. Within 24 hours, Gabriel had his hands on a burned (hush!) copy of The Intergalactic Collection (missing a couple tracks from the first disc, plus the remix of "Come Again" and "The Way We Were" from the bonus disc). This is one of my preferred tracks from this album, but most of it is pretty good. (Apparently, like Morcheeba, they changed female vocalists on this album...but that's neither here nor there. This track's very laid back, with a move-like combination vocalist/emcee. Unlike move, however, the material here is nowhere nearly as adrenaline-driven.
Katamari Damacy - Katamari on the Rock (Theme Song) - On my last trip to the States, I picked up a PS2 and dragged back LilBro's copy of Katamari Damacy. ...I don't think I really need any more explanation for it being on this list than that. (I've got the moon up to 770m! Soon, I shall play the World Eternal stage!)

Man, I forgot how hard it was to write these things up.

This meme is open game--anyone who wants to take it up, feel free. MP3age not necessary but appreciated.

FWIW, I don't think Crystal Kay is officially part of m-flo. Verbal and Taku just love everyone on the planet. :P
