Same old song and dance

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before? Began a proper addiction to social networks (read: Facebooking like a mutha). Went traveling with just LilBro.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I still don't make New Year's Resolutions, officially. I suppose the unofficial one--travel more--happened pretty nicely.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? A woman in my choir did.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No.
5. What countries did you visit? France, the US, Germany, Italy, JAPAN!
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007? Nothing that I didn't ask for previously.
7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? May 23-28. I suppose May 14-28 all count. That was some of the awesomest traveling I'd ever done, two weeks of nothing but geek bliss.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Don't think anything really counts there. Possibly my 2nd-place win at Polymanga for GHII, though that's not really all that big an achievement.
Also, Jack Thompson called me an e-tard. Granted, he still doesn't know me from Adam, but that was pretty awesome.
9. What was your biggest failure? On the flip side, no major failures, either!
Oh, wait, there's that whole (personal health issue redacted) thing. Considering (positive current state of personal health redacted), though, I wouldn't consider it a MAJOR failure.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nothing major.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Consoles! XBox 360 and Wii! I was very happy with those.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Nobody's in particular.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Again.
14. Where did most of your money go? Food, probably. If not that, gaming gear in general.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Movies and video games. Rock Band and Guitar Hero, in particular; event movies like Transformers and Spider-Man 3 (the latter was crushing) and smaller ones like Stardust; GOING TO TOKYO! GOING TO GOOGLE!
16. What songs will always remind you of 2007? I don't identify songs with years; I identify them with people or moods. This year was the year of Feist and CSS and the Ace Attorney Meets soundtracks, though.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you...
i. happier or sadder? A lot more introspective, but overall happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner. Scarily thinner, even.
iii. richer or poorer? About the same, though materially I'm a bit richer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Traveling, exercise, etc. Possibly cleaning up my room/apartment.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Letting crap build up around the apartment.
20. How did you spend Christmas Break? With LilBro in Washington, playing Rock Band and watching Dexter and 30 Rock.
Even though this survey's been around since at least 2003, there is still no question 21.
22. Did you fall in love in 2007? There's been some attractions, but no full-fledged love-falling.
23. How many one night stands? Absolutely none.
24. What was your favourite TV program? My favorite new discovery was Dexter, which although it premiered in 2k6 I didn't get around to until 2k7. Of the freshman shows, Chuck and Pushing Daisies ranks up there pretty high.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Do I ever?
26. What was the best book you read? The only book I really read was Lawrence Lessig's Free Culture, but it was well worth reading.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Room Eleven.
28. What did you want and get? Video game consoles.
29. What did you want and not get? An HDTV, though this is to be remedied within the next week. There really needs to be a "What did you get that you didn't really want but found it to be awesome anyway?" question.
30. What was your favorite film of this year? That's a pretty tough decision considering how many great movies there were toward the end of the year. I think it has to go to Juno, though Once is pretty high up there.
31. What did you do on your birthday? Ate dinner at Molino's, went clubbing at Palladium.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? *whistles innocently*
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006? I think I'm in a competition with LilBro regarding the wacky internet noveltee-shirts. This year I was proud to add Diesel Sweeties and T-Shirt Hell to my collection, and LilBro bought me some Threadless. Kim also sent me a Busted Tee.
34. What kept you sane? I'm sane? Again, though, friends and family.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Kristen Bell, Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah from Chuck).
36. What political issue stirred you the most? *cough*
37. Who did you miss? My family. Carley, now that she lives in Canada. Holland, now that he lives in NYC.
38. Who was the best new person you met? I need to make an obligatory shout-out to
nutsoba, because she reads this and might punch me in real life if I don't mention her. Then again, I think she might win by default.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007. Fly eggs are tedious to remove, which is as good a reason as any to clean up your place.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up 2007. It's no use crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake. (You knew that was going to pop up SOMEWHERE.)
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I still don't make New Year's Resolutions, officially. I suppose the unofficial one--travel more--happened pretty nicely.

Date: 2008-01-05 10:55 am (UTC)That indeed has been a decent amount of travelling. If I may ask, where have you been in Germany last year?

Date: 2008-01-05 07:30 pm (UTC)As for Germany, I have family in Goettingen (aunt) and Munich (her daughter, my cousin); I spent New Year's in Munich (which we felt worked as a halfway point). We were only there for Sylvester and left the 2nd but had a blast anyway. ^_^
