...despite what everybody thinks, tomorrow will not mark the first day of the end of this insanity. This is just the beginning.

Regardless of who wins tomorrow between the Big Two, and especially if someone OUTSIDE the Big Two manage to win after the midnight count, Blood. Will. Fly.

Accusations of voter fraud on both sides abound; neither wants to believe their own party's hands are dirty in any way. Democrats are being accused of multiple votes, Republicans are allegedly blocking Democratic votes and/or altering ballots, and anyone who thinks either of these aren't going to be brought up in the next week ought to look at this bridge I'm selling. Nobody will be satisfied at ALL.

Face it, folks, regardless of the turnout, these next four years are gonna be hell. If not because the -incumbent or -elect end up screwing up on policies important to you or others, because you can bet your ass people will not let this election die.

Amendment: This will not be the last thing I will say about this election. Somewhere down the line, if anyone believes otherwise and tells me so, I reserve the right to an "I told you so."

When you said "especially if someone OUTSIDE the Big Two manage to win after the midnight count," almost as if to suggest that such a thing was even possible, I experienced a brief shiver of excitement.

You tease!

If neither candidiate wins by a sufficient margin, the lawyers will win in the same way that MIT won the Harvard-Yale game in 1982 and 1990, but with somewhat less class.

I don't think 'everybody' thinks that so there's no real reason for an "I told you so."

Still, while I think there's plenty of mess to be sorted after the election, looking back at the last four years in which the election was no allowed to die, it's not going to be quite so bleak for the entirety of the next term (at least on that issue alone).

At least the folks abroad will have an ample opportunity to poke fun at stupid 'Merkins, and the world will be a merrier place.

One of many reasons why *gasp* I'm not bothering. I mean, why bother?! People even use the "lesser of two evils" reasoning.. but do they really know which one is less evil? I don't. And a write-in? Pssh. Yeah, that'll happen. Besides, I live in Illinois, home of the Democratic National Convention.. so IL is going to Kerry anyway. It always goes to the Democrats. SO YAY. I'll be glad when this crap is over. That's for sure.

I don't think anyne expects it to go smooth. What I think people are looking forward to is the end of a billion commercials/phone calls. Interestingly, most all the phone harrassment came from the Republicans (and after I had already voted too)
