Anyone who harps on about GH3 completely downright sucking, I pity. As stupidly overcharted as a lot of it is, and as much as I want to murder whoever thought "Raining Blood" was a good choice for a song (and overcharting), and as much as I hate the new graphics, and the new timing windows, and the lack of Clive Winston and Eddie Knox, and the hippification of Xavier Stone, and the trampification of Judy Nails, and most of the game, it wins for the charting of, and for introducing me to, "Cliffs of Dover."
That song, out of everything I've played in the Guitar Hero franchise, still stands as the greatest joy to play. Even though GH2 tends to stay in the 360 as the Most Played Game in my collection, "Cliffs" will hold a special place in my heart.
Also fun despite (or maybe even because!) of overcharting, "Mauvais Garçon."
GH4 (aka Potentially Band Hero) and GH:A? Could be fun, and I'm interested in seeing what those installments bring before I judge. I already know RB will be my drug of choice come end of May, and will probably be for some time.
But for those of you hating on the Tony Hawk's Grooving Sound franchise, hold off until it is out, because chances are there'll be at least one thing you'll love about the upcoming installment.

Date: 2008-04-22 01:26 pm (UTC)I play GH2 for Sweet Child of Mine and Jessica, I still think it has a better track list than 3... it's what I'm -usually- playing if I'm not in Rock Band.

Date: 2008-04-22 01:47 pm (UTC)I liked a lot of the 360-exclusive GH2 songs, particularly Hush and RnRHK. Dead! is also stupid fun and bouncy. But for balls-out fun, Sweet Child of Mine and Free Bird (on Hard, I still can't beat it on Expert) are wicked sweet. That's right, wicked sweet.
I really wish they had properly released GH1 for the XBox now. I want my Take Me Out. I may even buy the GH DLC now that I know they're never going to put up anything else for GH2.

Date: 2008-04-22 02:42 pm (UTC)Alas, I am a PAL player, and as such I won't be getting Rock Band until I fork over double the price (okay, with my picking up the instruments from the US and a friend pre-ordering it for me for my birthday, 1.5x the price) in a month's time.
Also, being an instrumental, it may be a while before Rock Band offers it as DLC. Though I hope they do.
There's enough in GH3 despite all the crap Neversoft put in to make it purchase-worthy. I still think HMX would've managed gold with the track list GH3 had, but I'll settle for the Neversoft bronze until May 24th.

Date: 2008-04-22 03:12 pm (UTC)Yup, that song is pretty much the only reason we were considering picking up GH3 on 360 with this week's Gamestop coupon.
I still dislike the game as a whole for the "difficult just for the sake of being difficult" factor, though.
