In today's economy, should you pick up virtually any job that will hire you, or should you wait until you find one that's relevant to your intended/field of expertise?

If you really need income, get whatever you can that isn't going to kill you with boredom. Temporary work is probably a good way to go - nearly every job I've held (except for my first one, in retail) was found through Manpower, one of the bigger and better temp agencies around.
If, on the other hand, you're fairly comfortably off for the time being, you might consider focusing on the search for your dream job - and pick up short-term or medium-term work on the side if need be (again, I suggest temp agencies).
